ISource Solutions, in collaboration with Telent, successfully delivered key electrical and infrastructure works for Network Rail Telecoms as part of the Heritage Electrical Project. This initiative aimed to migrate obsolete telecoms systems onto the modern FTNx Network, ensuring increased stability, security, and future scalability.
Project Scope
- Migrated services across 28 key sites in Kent, Sussex, and Wessex.
- Operated within Telecoms Equipment Rooms (TERs), substations, track paralleling huts (TP Huts), signal boxes, and telecoms nodes.
- Upgraded critical electrical systems to improve resilience.
Scope of Works
ISource was initially contracted for electrical works, aligned with Telent’s power designs, which included:
- ✅ AC Modifications: Upgrading existing AC circuits.
- ✅ DC Modifications: Enhancing existing DC circuits.
- ✅ AC/DC Integration: Adjustments to combined AC/DC circuits.
- ✅ Recovery Works: Safe removal of redundant electrical equipment.
Following the success of the electrical works, ISource was further contracted for:
- ✔️ Fibre Cabling Installations – Implementing new FTNx infrastructure.
- ✔️ Civils Works – Installing Stakka boxes and trough joints to support telecoms resilience.
Project Impact
By successfully migrating services from legacy transmission systems, ISource helped enhance system stability, eliminate single points of failure, and integrate these sites into Network Rail’s Security Operating Centre (SOC) and Network Management Centre (NMC).
This project underscores ISource’s expertise in delivering specialist electrical, fibre, and civil solutions to keep the UK’s railway infrastructure secure, connected, and future-proofed.
