Overview:
- 3.5 Million
- December 2022 to March 2024
The Wessex SISS Project CIS (Customer Information System) and PA (Public Address) were undertaken by ISource in collaboration with Telent, working for Network Rail’s client, South West Trains. The project aimed to address system non-compliance and asset obsolescence across 176 stations on the South West Trains franchise. By renewing CIS screens and PA speakers, the project sought to enhance the passenger experience, meet daily operational demands, and ensure maintainability.
Scope:
- Installation and commissioning at 176 stations
- Renewal of 589 CIS displays with a multitude of different types of bracketry & fixings
- Installation of 1,971 PA speakers
- Installation of 118 km of comms cable
- Installation of 1km of new CMS (Containment Management System)
- Civils installation of 46 Gallows posts and bases
- Production of 78 NIC Certificates
Resource:
The project consisted of 7 installation teams (crews of 4 to 8 people, dependent on the size of the site) with 1 tool van and 1 welfare van in each team.
Although a challenge, resources were successfully distributed across 176 stations on the South Western Railway. Contractors worked in numerous locations with the correct plant and materials. The workforce was utilised across the following:
- Vauxhall (London) to Weymouth (Dorset)
- Wandsworth (London) to Earley (Berks)
- Woking (Surrey) to Portsmouth (Hants)
- Basingstoke (Hants) to Pinhoe (Devon)
